Ground School to cover:

  • Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) & Threat Management in the IR environment
  • Pilot Personal Minimums Checklist
  • Single Pilot Crew Resource Management
  • Cockpit Management under IFR
  • IFR Flight – Review, completion and filing procedures
  • IFR do’s and don’ts plus interpretation and revision of regulatory requirements
  • Simplifying the in-flight reading of approach plates
  • Review of basic scanning techniques
  • Simplifying hold entries and techniques
  • Bearing Indicator Holds and Approaches reviewed
  • Holds – adjusting for winds – simplified
  • Flying a stabilised approach
  • Review of missed approach procedures
  • General common IFR errors, level busts and how to avoid them

 Simulator flying covering:

  • Practice of basic scan and scan prioritisation
  • In-flight application of approach plate reading
  • Practical in-flight application of cockpit management/CRM
  • Hold and hold entries – practice various entry scenarios and practical application of the ‘stabilised approach’
  • “Go-around” procedures  and missed approaches – practical application of the IFR to VFR transition
  • Asymmetric hold and approaches for ME pilots
