Aviation Training Resources has a long association with Flight Training in Nigeria and the UK going back to our inauguration in 2009. To cope with increased demand for courses, Captain Rob Spencer and Simon Abbott founded Aviation Training Resources (ATR) in 2011 to deliver training primarily for the Nigerian Civil and Military Sectors.

Captain Rob Spencer started working with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria in 2007, carrying out Instructor Refresher Training and then Full Instructor ratings. Following this success, 2008 saw the cooperation with the Nigerian Air Force extend its scope with a Civil Instructor conversion course for a Senior Air Force Officer, who had carried out many years of Air Force Instruction.

To date we have conducted many aviation training programmes for clients both in the  UK and in Nigeria. We were the first to train indigenous pilots in Nigeria for their Flight Instructor Ratings; this was for seven Pilots at Zaria in 2012.

Our Instructors

Robert (Rob) Spencer is a highly experienced Professional Pilot and Flying Instructor. He grew up in Zimbabwe and learnt to fly in South Africa. He has been a professional flying Instructor teaching at the advanced level and now specialises in Instructor Training.

Simon Abbott is a highly experienced Aerobatic Pilot and Flying Instructor. He grew up in Zimbabwe. He is an Aerobatic Flying Instructor, teaching at the advanced level.
