Ground School to cover:
- Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) & Threat Management in the IR environment
- Pilot Personal Minimums Checklist
- Single Pilot Crew Resource Management
- Cockpit Management under IFR
- IFR Flight – Review, completion and filing procedures
- IFR do’s and don’ts plus interpretation and revision of regulatory requirements
- Simplifying the in-flight reading of approach plates
- Review of basic scanning techniques
- Simplifying hold entries and techniques
- Bearing Indicator Holds and Approaches reviewed
- Holds – adjusting for winds – simplified
- Flying a stabilised approach
- Review of missed approach procedures
- General common IFR errors, level busts and how to avoid them
Simulator flying covering:
- Practice of basic scan and scan prioritisation
- In-flight application of approach plate reading
- Practical in-flight application of cockpit management/CRM
- Hold and hold entries – practice various entry scenarios and practical application of the ‘stabilised approach’
- “Go-around” procedures and missed approaches – practical application of the IFR to VFR transition
- Asymmetric hold and approaches for ME pilots
